Lance Reddick Biography
Lance Reddick, a talented actor and musician, was born on June 7, 1962, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Dorothy Gee and Solomon Reddick. He attended the Friends School of Baltimore, where he developed a passion for music. As a teenager, he honed his musical skills at the Peabody Preparatory Institute and the Walden School’s summer program on music theory and composition.
Reddick pursued a Bachelor of Music degree in classical music composition at the University of Rochester’s Eastman School of Music. He then moved to Boston, Massachusetts, in the 1980s and earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Yale School of Drama in 1994.
Reddick’s acting career began with his role as Detective Johnny Basil on the HBO series Oz, which aired from 1997 to 2003. He went on to play memorable characters in popular television series such as The Wire, Lost, Fringe, and Bosch. In Fringe, Reddick portrayed the head of an FBI department investigating paranormal activities, while in The Wire, he played a tough and honest police officer.
Reddick also made an impact in the film industry with his performances as Charon in the John Wick franchise and David Gentry in Angel Has Fallen. He was also an accomplished musician and released his debut album, Contemplations & Remembrances, in 2007, showcasing his skills in classical piano and jazz.
Unfortunately, on March 17, 2023, Reddick passed away at the age of 60. His death was mourned by fans worldwide and marked a significant loss to the entertainment industry.
