A WOMAN died after she fell headfirst into a giant meat grinder while working at a US factory.
Jill Greninger was operating the machine at Economy Locker Storage Company in Pennsylvania when the horror accident happened on Monday.
The 35-year-old had been standing on a set of stairs on wheels before the accident, according to coroner Charles Kiessling.
It's understood she then fell into the meat grinder and was killed "instantly".
Kiessling told the Williamsport Sun-Gazette that no one witnessed the accident and it's unclear if the woman was "reaching for something in the grinder, which was about six feet off the ground".
Lycoming County coroner Charles Kiessling Jr told ABC: “This is just a tragedy. She died inside the moving parts of the machine.
“We talked to the person who found her.
'MASSIVE TRAUMA'
“He said he heard a noise and went to check on her and found her in the machine.
“He put the power down and called 911.”
Kiessling confirmed the woman's cause of death as "massive trauma".
He added:
“I don't know if she got caught with the moving parts and they pulled her in, or if she just slipped and fell.
“I don't know and there's no way of determining that."
Officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration have confirmed they are probing the tragedy.

Greninger was described by friends as "an amazing person' who 'touched so many lives".
Her neighbour said: “My heart goes out to everyone who is affected by this.
“Everyone is shaken and thinks that this is a tragedy that something like this had to happen to such a young lady."
